About “Toeism”

This philosophy is called Toeism because it’s a bit like our toes.  Toes may look a bit funny, but they’re essential for our balance.

We need to get rid of the idea that the head is the most important bit. Our bodies and emotional intuitions can often tell us what to do better than our minds. In fact, our mind is best at sorting out the simplest of problems, not the most complex. Similarly, just because it’s at the top, the flower of a potato plant isn’t the most important bit – it’s just part of the organism!

We need to get rid of the idea that society’s a skyscraper with a king at the top.  The longer we believe this idea to be true, the longer we feel powerless to change anything ourselves.  And the person who most needs us to believe this fiction is the fool who has just squirmed all their way to the top in order to feel powerful.

We’re all part of the organism of society and we can all make a difference, no matter how near the ground we are. In fact, the closer to the ground we are, the more everyone depends on us for their sense of balance.

Toeism takes simple truths like this as clues towards a rewarding, fulfilling and happy lifestyle. Toeism also attempts to be a handbook for radical, non-violent, individual non-action that can help to change the world we live on.

Welcome to Toeism, therefore.  Join us in living a good life while trying to save our planet.
